Q: I work for Public Health and we bought a walk in cooler to store medications…its 8 x 8 model. My question is: Do we have to buy a thermostat? There does not seem to be one in the components that were delivered. Or is it built into the system?

Here is an example of one of our thermostats.
A: Are you looking for the thermostat or the thermometer for your unit? The thermostat (the device used to set the desired temperature in the box) usually comes with the refrigeration; you shouldn’t have to purchase it separately. If you didn’t purchase refrigeration for the cooler yet, then you wouldn’t have received a thermostat. Different models of refrigeration have different thermostats so it is hard to tell you exactly what to look for. Sometimes they are mounted on the refrigeration unit and other times they are separate and need to be mounted.

This is an example of the thermometer.
If you are looking for the thermometer to tell what the temperature is in the box, it should be mounted to one of the panels of your cooler; on our walk-ins it is located next to the door. The thermometer is standard to come with the walk-in unit.
